(National Weather Service) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Illinois River at Peoria from Monday morning until further notice. The flood stage is 18 feet and at 10:45 A.M. on Saturday the stage was at 13.6 feet.
Moderate flooding is forecast as more showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday evening into Sunday. However, the risk of severe weather is low and the main concern is additional flooding.
The National Weather Service is advising those who have interests along the river to prepare for flooding.
This comes after 7.6 inches of rain in Peoria, 6.25 inches in Chillicothe, just over 6 inches Roanoke, just over 5 inches in Dunlap, and 4.74 inches in Washington during the rain on Friday.
