PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Firefighters say a house caught on fire in South Peoria Thursday afternoon, and the cause appears to be arson.
Firefighters say they were called to a home on Lincoln Avenue, inbetween Madison Park Terrace and Western, around 4:00 p.m., where smoke could immediately be seen coming from the roof.
They say they had to combat “intense heat” in putting the fire out, which involved cutting a hole in the roof.
The home, officials say, was already marked for demolition, but instead got an emergency one.
No one was hurt, and a damage estimate is not available.
