PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say they’re still investigating what was the city’s ninth homicide of the year last month, but say they’ve made an arrest in the case.
Police say Markes Wilson, 28, was arrested Thursday on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Detectives reportedly saw Wilson walk out of a home near Jefferson and Spencer and arrested him, but then found a number of pieces of evidence, including ammunition, inside the home.
The shooting happened June 18th during one of a number of ShotSpotter alerts in the area near McBean and Merriman.
Emarion Carpenter, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene while another juvenile suffered a hand injury.
