PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman will claim self defense as she’s charged with murder for a fatal stabbing.
Lauraine Singleton, 41, was in court Thursday for an arraignment on two counts of First Degree Murder.
She’s accused of stabbing 50-year-old James Davis to death May 14th at a home on Morgan Street.
25 News reports court documents state Singleton believed Davis would kill her, and had threatened to do so the day before.
The document claims Singleton had been beaten, tortured, forced into prostitution, and trafficked by Davis.
Davis, Singleton’s attorney claims, was also wanted on a warrant regarding a domestic battery case involving Singleton.
Court records state a judge will hear a motion Monday to allow Singleton to be on monitored release.
