PEORIA, Ill. – Leaders at Bradley University would like to know from the community what to do with the former Avanti’s property near campus.
The university in January purchased the site at the corner of Main and University Streets.
At the time, the university was planning to make it a green space. But Libby Derry of Bradley says the community reached out after the purchase with some other ideas.
“Some of those have been space for a farmer’s market or it being adapted to welcome food trucks, art space, things like that,” Derry said. “And those are things that have been coming in organically, and we’ve gotten a lot of those ideas.”
Derry adds the overall goal is to create a welcoming space for people that come into Bradley.
She says there is not a timeline yet on development of the property, as the project is still in the early stages. The demolition of the former Avanti’s has not been scheduled yet.
