SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A Peoria nursing home received at least two fines from the Illinois Department of Public Health in the third quarter of last fiscal year — one of which was after a resident suffered a brain bleed.
According to a report from the Illinois Department of Public Health, a $25,000 was leveled against Sharon Health Care Willows on North Rochelle.
On May 20th of last year, the report claims a resident fell out of his bed, his head hitting the floor causing the frontal lobe to bleed.
The fall apparently happened while a nurse’s aide was getting the resident clean sheets.
The victim was later hospitalized twice before going in to hospice care.
Willows was fined $2,200 not long after when no one allegedly called the state after a resident fell that initially went unnoticed last May 3rd.
A Peoria nursing home was leveled a big fine last year after residents suffered a number of injuries in a several month period after falls.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says River Crossing of Peoria on Northmoor was fined $25,000.
The nursing home is accused in a report of failing to provide adequate supervision regarding the prevention of falls.
In the case of one resident with Parkinson’s Disease, she hit her head a number of times between March and late-May.
In a couple cases the patient stood up from a wheelchair, then fell.
Several other residents suffered injuries in the time period in question.
