SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Community colleges in Illinois are enjoying the largest enrollment increase in more than a decade.
Illinois Community College Board Executive Director Brian Durham says Spring enrollment is up by more than 7% over last year, with 39 out of the state’s 48 community colleges seeing more students.
“This, I think shows that we’re shifting back to pre-pandemic levels, and ultimately we see a lot of growth in areas like Career Tech and Vocational Skills training that’s very hands-on,” Durham says.
Adult enrollment at Illinois’ Community Colleges rose by 29% over the year, and the number of students taking Dual Credit courses increased by more than 10%.
