PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported 116 new cases of COVID-19 in the county in the last week, an average of more than 16 per day.
Just one week ago, the average of new cases per day was just under seven.
One new death was reported in the county due to the virus, bringing the total to 375 since the pandemic began.
Those who were at home isolating increased from 47 to 114 over the week.
On a good note, hospitalizations remained at just two.
The state as a whole has been seeing a jump in COVID-19 cases, like much of the nation, as the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported nearly 8,000 new cases last week.
According to IDPH, 45.62% of Peoria County residents are fully-vaccinated.
