PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were dispatched to a fire in a West Bluff Peoria home.
Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the back of the house at 1311 N. Underhill St. when they arrived at 11:19 p.m. Saturday. Battalion Chief Clinton Kuhlman said a large amount fire had to be knocked down before crews could get inside.
Extra firefighters were dispatched to the scene to assist in knocking down the blaze and ventilation, which included cutting a hole into the roof.
No one was inside but firefighters found three deceased pets.
A Peoria fire investigator determined food left on the stove was the cause of the blaze.
There were no injuries to firefighters.
