CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A 15-year-old girl from Peoria is dead following a shooting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Tuesday morning.
Tyliyah Whitis was found dead in a crashed car with gunshot wounds in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids police have not yet received the official cause of death from the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. They believe it was a targeted incident.
Officers were responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash at an apartment complex when they found Whitis with gunshot wounds.
Whitis was in the driver’s seat of a car registered to a family member.
