PEORIA, Ill. — Spudnut Donuts in Pekin is now under new management.
Jacqueline Butler, who now owns the business with her parents and husband Boomer Grigsby, a former NFL player from Canton, said there are Spudnut donut shops across the country, and the name has been trademarked multiple times.
“We decided that we needed our own name for our own original recipe, and that will be Tadoughs,” Butler said.
Tadoughs, pronounced like potatoes, will not be changing the Spudnuts ingredients or recipe.
Rick Butler, Jacqueline’s father and co-owner, told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, they’ve been very busy learning the business since taking over.
Butler said the family seized the business opportunity when the former owners wanted to retire.
“In the three months we’ve been there, we’ve doubled production…we’ve got four people in the kitchen, and more out front. And, we’re still hiring more people,” Butler said.
Tadoughs will keep everything from the original menu and will be adding more flavors in the future. The owners plan to expand the donut brand in Central Illinois in the future, and to Las Vegas within a year.
Tadoughs is located at 815 N. 8th Street in Pekin. The hours are currently 4-10 a.m.
