PEORIA, Ill. — Two Peoria residents have been hospitalized following a fire in the 300 block of S Webster Saturday night just after 11:45 p.m.
Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics were called to the home for a possible domestic call for a person having a medical emergency.
The first fire company on scene found smoke coming from the second floor and also received word from bystanders that someone was on the second floor.
Fire crews went inside to perform a rescue when they found the resident down in a second floor hallway in thick, black smoke.
After the victim was removed from the house, fire crews went back in to extinguish the flames.
The person down in the second floor hallway was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, and another person was hospitalized for the same reason.
Red Cross was notified for one displaced resident.
No injuries were reported to firefighters at the scene, and the blaze was put out just before midnight.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by a Peoria Fire investigator.
