PEKIN, Ill. — It’s unclear what caused a fire at the Powerton Plant in Pekin late Tuesday night.
A Battalion Chief told news partner 25 News that firefighters were called to the plant just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, after the top part of a conveyor system, which handles coal, caught fire.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the fire under control, and put out.
No one was injured in the incident.
The Battalion Chief added that all operations at the plant have resumed.
Damage estimates are unknown.
