PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Wednesday reported ICU hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the area dropped from 15 to eight in the last 24 hours.
In addition, just 13 new cases were reported in the tri-county area of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford.
Peoria County reported six new cases, while Tazewell County reported seven new cases. Woodford County reported zero new cases.
However, three tri-county deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19.
A Peoria County woman in her 30s with comorbidities died from complications, as did a Tazewell County man in his 70s and a Woodford County woman in her 90s.
In Region 2 of Illinois, the positivity rate and ICU bed capacity remained stable from Tuesday at 1.9% and 23%, respectively.
Hospitalizations in the region overall dropped by four from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Gov. JB Pritzker reiterated Wednesday in Peoria that the state continues to be on track for a Phase 5 reopening of the state on June 11.
