CREVE COEUR, Ill. – A couple of local police and fire agencies say they’ve had to respond to a number of drug overdose calls lately.
Fire officials in Creve Coeur say over the last three days or so, they and police have had to administer 80 milligrams of Narcan in overdose cases. For comparison, a typical dose is between two and four milligrams.
What’s more, they believe there’s what they call a “bad batch” of fentanyl going around, with some concern that fentanyl may be mixed with other substances like cocaine.
Police in Bartonville say the same bad batch may be there, too.
They say the best thing is to call 911 if you suspect something is wrong, and if you’re battling an addiction, don’t be afraid to get help.
Meanwhile, Creve Coeur Fire says they’ve received a donation of Narcan that will be made available for anyone who wants it at the fire station on:
- Friday, January 13, 5pm-7pm
- Saturday, January 14: 9am-11am
- Saturday, January 14: 5ppm-7pm
