EAST PEORIA, Ill. — It’s unclear what caused an overnight fire in East Peoria, that left seven people displaced.
The call came in around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Anderson Avenue.
Assistant Fire Chief Garry Grugan said residents of the home were outside when crews arrived, but firefighters had to rescue 11 cats and dogs.
The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.
Several departments were called to help fight the fire or cover the East Peoria Fire Station.
The Red Cross and family members provided temporary housing for the family.
Damage was estimated at $50,000.
