GREEN VALLEY, Ill. – Three people had to be rescued from a home in the Tazewell County community of Green Valley following a fire Tuesday morning.
Officials say the fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. near East Main and Barker.
25 News reports an off-duty firefighter saw two children and their father trying to get out of an upstairs window, with the father then handing the children to the firefighter before being rescued himself.

“They’ve been checked out by AMT. They did an outstanding job for us. There is no injuries. No smoke inhalation. Everyone is safe,” said Terrill, to 25 News.
