PEORIA, Ill. — The Monday report from the Peoria City/County Health Department showed 116 residents of Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties, combined, tested positive over the weekend for COVID-19.
67 of the new cases are Peoria residents, 39 live in Tazewell, and the other 10 reside in Woodford.
A total of five area residents died.
In Tazewell County, a man in his 50s succumbed to virus complications. Meanwhile, two Peoria men and a woman in their 60s all died, as did a woman in her 70s.
78 tri-county residents as of Monday afternoon were hospitalized with the virus. 24 of them were in intensive care.
Region Two’s ICU bed availability for the first time in weeks has leaped over the 20% mark, at 22%. The rolling seven-day average of overall COVID hospitalizations was down below 200.
Rolling seven-day positivity was down to 3.3%.
