SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A pay raise is coming for Illinois’ minimum wage workers on Sunday as the new year begins.
Those workers will be making $13/hour in the new year. It’s a dollar increase from the current $12/hour.
The increases are part of legislation signed in 2019 that increases the minimum wage by $1 each year, ending with $15/hour in 2025.
In a statement, Governor J.B. Pritzker said, “Illinois workers deserve a minimum wage that keeps up with the rising costs of living.”
Workers in the state who regularly earn tips will see an increase to $7.80/hour in the new year. Workers under 18 years old who work less than 650 hours in a year will have a rate of $10.50/hour.
