PEORIA, Ill. — Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) Friday announced a grant totaling more than $8 million will be headed to Peoria International Airport (PIA).
The $8,057,860 grant is from the U.S. Department of Transportation and will be used to expand the existing terminal apron to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards.
“Peoria International Airport is a vital transportation hub and a major economic driver in our corner of Illinois,” Bustos said. “I’m pleased to announce this federal grant to move this critical project forward and improve their operations.
“We must continue to invest in our infrastructure to rebuild our country and create good-paying jobs in our communities.”
The grant will be used for the final phase of the construction project.
The Federal Aviation Administration aims to promote safety, efficiency, environmental stewardship, infrastructure and security at the nation’s airports.
