PEORIA, Ill. — All three counties composing the tri-county area over the weekend experienced COVID-related deaths.
In Peoria County, a man in his 60s and one in his 80s, both of whom had comorbidities, passed away.
Two Tazewell County men in their 50s died, as did a Woodford County woman in her 80s.
Meanwhile, 338 tri-county residents found out they have the virus. 195 of them live in Peoria, 91 live in Tazewell, and the remaining 42 are Woodford residents.
Overall area hospitalizations were down Monday from where they were Friday, a decrease from 164 to 157. However, the Peoria City/County Health Department did report intensive care bed usage increased from 46 to 48.
Monday’s COVID metrics for the greater Region Two were looking more encouraging than they had been prior to the weekend.
Each day between Friday and Monday, the region saw a decrease in overall COVID hospitalizations. Rolling seven-day positivity was down to 5.5%, over a whole percentage point down from where it was one week prior, and about two whole percentage points down from two weeks prior.
ICU bed availability, however, remained a concern, sitting at a mere 16%.
