SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday reported the state’s seven-day statewide positivity rate is down to 4.5%.
Last Wednesday, the positivity rate was 5% and has been steadily declining since then.
IDPH Tuesday also reported 2,587 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 9 additional deaths.
As of Monday night, 2,288 Illinoisans were hospitalized with the virus. Of those, 522 were in the ICU and 223 were on ventilators.
More than 80,000 vaccine doses were administered across the state on Monday, bringing the total to more than 8.2 million.
