Two schools were placed on lockdown Thursday morning in Peoria after a shooting nearby, police confirm.
St. Philomena Catholic School, located at 3216 N. Emery Avenue and Thomas Jefferson Primary School, located at 918 W. Florence Avenue , according to Peoria Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
The lockdowns came in response to a man being shot in the 3600 block of Parish Avenue around 8 a.m.
A soft lockdown allows students to move about the building, but the school’s exterior doors are all locked until the lockdown lifted.
