PEORIA, Ill. — Local and regional COVID-19 numbers released Tuesday continued to show undesirable trends.
195 residents of the Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county found out between Monday and Tuesday they tested positive for the virus. 110 of the positive tests were Peoria residents, 59 were Tazewell residents, and the other 26 belonged to Woodford.
COVID hospitalizations increased by five, from 55 to 60. 14 of the 60 were intensive care-level.
That’s just a little under double the 35 hospitalizations from just seven days prior.
Illinois Region Two, of which the tri-county is a part, also continued to see discouraging numbers.
The region’s ICU bed availability dipped to 22%. That number was 28% seven days before, and is supposed to stay at or above 20% in order to be out of the risk of mitigation measures.
The number of COVID patients in hospitals throughout the region increased by seven from Monday, and has increased in nine of the last 10 days.
Meanwhile, the rolling seven-day positivity rate has risen to 4.8%.
