PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported 12 more patients are in area hospitals due to COVID-19 compared to Friday.
Six of those patients are in area ICU beds, with the other six in non-ICU.
The health department also reported a large increase in cases over the weekend, 482, throughout the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
306 new cases came up in Peoria County, 130 cases were reported in Tazewell County, and 46 cases were reported in Woodford County.
One area resident also succumbed to the virus over the weekend, a Peoria County man in his 80s with comorbidities.
Region 2 metrics continue to trend drastically in the wrong direction.
Seven-day positivity rate has now increased to 4.5%, ICU bed capacity is down to just 23%, and hospitalizations in the region have increased in nine out of the last 10 days.
