SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Monday reported the state is nearing the vaccination threshold to move to the Bridge Phase of Restore Illinois.
Currently, 69% of residents 65 and older have been vaccinated, just short of the needed 70%.
However, hospitalization numbers have been trending upward, meaning the state will not be able to move into the Bridge Phase.
One of the requirements to be moved to the Bridge Phase is to hold steady on COVID and COVID-like hospitalizations over a 28-day-period.
IDPH Monday also reported 1,761 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including five deaths.
As of Sunday night, 1,352 patients were in Illinois hospitals with COVID-19. Of those, 280 were in the ICU and 128 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity is at 3.8%.
49,192 COVID vaccine doses were administered Sunday in Illinois.
