VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Two people are dead and eight more injured following a shooting Friday night in Virginia Beach.
According to the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD), the incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m.
Officers patrolling in the area heard multiple gunshots and located multiple gunshot victims.
At the time of the release, there were eight victims transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening.
According to police, one adult female succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The other death resulted from an officer confronting and fatally shooting a man as police were investigating the initial shooting.
The police department said the incident is still under investigation, and there is no suspect information available at this time.
