PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Tuesday reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths in Peoria County, bringing the total to 594 in the tri-county area since the pandemic began.
The two latest deaths reported Tuesday were both females, one in her 70s and one in her 90s.
Overall, 133 new cases were reported throughout the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford.
Peoria County added 73 new cases, Tazewell County added 44, and Woodford County saw an increase of 16 cases.
Hospital bed usage in area hospitals decreased by two and is now down to 35. In addition, four fewer people are in area ICU beds Tuesday compared to Monday.
On a regional level, the worrying trend of positivity rate and hospitalizations has continued.
Postivity rate in Region 2 increased again to 3.6%. Hospitalizations due to COVID in the region also increased for the sixth time in seven days.
