PEORIA, Ill. – Peorians of a certain age can, perhaps, relive some of their teen years with a series of performances Saturday night at an event venue that was once a popular hangout.
“Another Second Chance” raises money for the TAPS animal shelter in Pekin.
It’s at the 3300 Event Center on Willow Knolls — what was once known as “Second Chance,” which opened 45 years ago.
“Just walking in to the Second Chance (Friday) and looking around, I got almost teary-eyed,” said Craig Moore, “Another Second Chance” co-organizer, to WMBD’s Craig Collins. “I looked up in to the balcony, where my mom and dad — who are no longer with us — used to come and see me all the time. My mom is from Springfield — Riverton. She would bring all the Fulgenzis down from Springfield to the Second Chance in Peoria when we would play here.”
Craig Moore is one of the co-organizers of the event, and says his own band will be among those playing.
“You’ve got the entire concept of the history of rock and roll, basically, all in the same show, and in this amazing venue that has been reconfigured back to its original purpose,” said Moore.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the 6:00 p.m. show. Reserved tables are sold out, but some walk-in tickets remain.
