PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Monday reported one area death due to COVID-19 over the weekend, a Tazewell County man in his 60s.
In addition, there were just 109 new area cases across the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford.
Peoria and Tazewell reported the most new cases with 43, while Woodford County added an additional 23 cases over the weekend.
Hospital usage in the area was down overall, but ICU bed usage was up compared to Friday.
Overall, three fewer people occupied area beds with the virus, but ICU bed usage saw an increase of three.
As a whole, Region 2 of Illinois has increased its ICU bed capacity to 30%, well above the needed 20% to stay in Phase 4 of Restore Illinois.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate held steady over the weekend, staying at 2.7%.
In addition, Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties have updated information for scheduling vaccine appointments.
For Peoria County, residents age 18+ in Phase 1A, 1B and 1B+ may schedule an appointment for vaccination at the Peoria City/County Health Department clinic.
If no appointments are currently available, please continue to check to see if there is availability. Appointments will open up as more vaccine becomes available.
