PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Tuesday reported a significant drop in ICU usage for COVID-19 patients, going from 10 on Monday to just three.
Non-ICU usage in area hospitals also decreased, going from 27 to 22 in the 24-hour reporting period.
One new area death was reported, a Peoria County female in her 70s with comorbidities.
Overall, just 54 new cases were announced Tuesday in the tri-county area of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford.
Peoria County reported 24 new cases, Tazewell accounted for 27 and Woodford reported just three.
Region 2 of Illinois continues to see a decreasing positivity rate as well.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate has dropped under 3% and is now at 2.9%.
Region 2 did take another slight hit in ICU bed availability, going from 28% to 27% in the last 24 hours. A region must stay above 20% ICU availability to remain in Phase 4 of Restore Illinois.
