PEORIA, Ill. — A delay in reporting led the Peoria City/County Health Department’s Friday COVID-19 report to reflect 17 area deaths.
Tazewell County accounted for one of the deaths, a man in his 80s.
Meanwhile, Peoria County had 16 previously unreported deaths, some of which date back about two months.
The deaths of residents who didn’t live in long-term care include one man in his 50s, four men in their 60s, two men in their 70s, and two in their 80s. A woman in her 40s died, as did one in her 70s and one in her 90s.
Four long-term care residents died: a man in his 60s who lived at Sharon Willows, two men in their 70s who lived at Sharon Willows, and a female Country Comfort resident in her 90s.
66 residents of Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties between Thursday and Friday tested positive. 32 of those new cases are Tazewell residents, 21 are Peoria residents, and 13 live in Woodford.
Area hospital beds in use for COVID patients decreased to 30, five of which were in intensive care units.
ICU bed availability for Region Two, however, decreased to 29%.
The other two key COVID metrics for the region improved. Rolling seven-day positivity rate dipped to 3.4%, and four fewer people on Friday were in hospital beds than were in beds on Thursday.
