PEORIA, Ill. — Five Peoria County residents between Tuesday and Wednesday became casualties of COVID-19.
Two of them, both women in their 80s, were long-term care facility residents. One lived at Cornerstone, while the other resided at Hillside.
Two men in their 60s and a woman in her 70s also passed, none of whom were believed to have lived in any nursing facility.
A total of 164 tri-county residents received positive test results. 124 of them live in Peoria County, 30 are Tazewell residents, and the other 10 live in Woodford.
26 area hospital beds were being occupied as of Wednesday afternoon by COVID patients, a decrease from Tuesday of 7. Eight of the 26 beds were in intensive care units.
While Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate dropped from 4.0% to 3.9%, ICU bed availability dropped from 31% to 30%, still well above the 20% threshold to stay in phase four of Restore Illinois.
The number of COVID patients in hospitals remained at 120, the same figure reported Tuesday.
