PEORIA, Ill. — A Tazewell County woman has become the area’s latest coronavirus casualty.
She was in her 70s and her living situation was not reported.
The area accumulated 242 new cases according to the Tuesday report from the Peoria City/County Health Department, which encompassed all days between Friday and Tuesday. There was no Monday report because inclement weather shut the department down for the day.
Peoria County residents accounted for 129 of the cases, while 95 Tazewell residents tested positive, and 18 Woodford residents did.
33 people with the virus as of Tuesday afternoon were in area hospitals. 11 were in intensive care.
All Region Two metrics pertinent to remaining in phase four of Restore Illinois were well within the needed range. Rolling seven-day positivity decreased to 4%, ICU bed availability held steadily at 31%, and 120 people as of Monday were in hospitals throughout the region, a number that has continued steadily to trend downwards.
