PEKIN, Ill. – Another member of the Pekin City Council wants the top job.
Dave Nutter has announced a run for mayor of Pekin, and will join Council Member Becky Cloyd on the 2023 election ballot. It is not yet clear if incumbent Mayor Mark Luft will run for a second term, after losing the June primary for his other job, State Representative.
Nutter retired from Caterpillar after 50 years, then retired from a metal casting facility in Georgia.
Nutter says he wants to revitalize the city’s downtown, address homelessness, improve city hall efficiency, and implement what he says is a performance review system.
Nutter and his wife have six daughters, seventeen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
“Current and future projects will require leadership, teamwork, goal setting, accountability and effective communication at all levels of the organization. These five points are vital to achieve timely and cost-effective project completion.” –David Nutter, press release
