SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The state of Illinois has surpassed 1.5 million coronavirus vaccines given.
Numbers released Thursday by the Illinois Department of Public Health showed 69,029 doses administered during the Wednesday-Thursday reporting period to put it over that mark.
The state had reached the one million mark on Feb. 2, meaning roughly half a million shots were given over a nine-day period.
Also during that time, 2,838 tests came back positive, and 102 people died from virus-related complications.
The number of residents in hospitals has dipped below the 2,000 mark, as 1,954 people as of Wednesday night were hospitalized. 448 were in intensive care unit beds, while 227 were on ventilators.
