PEORIA, Ill. — Region 2 of Illinois, which encompasses Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties, had some much improved hospital statistics within the last 24 hours.
ICU bed capacity jumped by 2% and now sits at 30%, and there were seven fewer patients in hospital beds overall Wednesday compared to Tuesday throughout the region.
On a local level, only eight patients were in area ICU beds, down one from Tuesday. Non-ICU bed usage was up slightly to 27 from 24 the day before.
Four new area deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the tri-county area Wednesday by the Peoria City/County Health Department.
Two residents of Peoria County succumbed to the virus: a male in his 70s with comorbidities and a female in her 80s who resided at Lutheran Hillside.
The other two deaths were to Tazewell County residents: a male in his 70s and a female in her 40s.
Public Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson said Wednesday Peoria County is receiving around 2,000 vaccine doses per week.
Hendrickson also said the county could administer as much as four times the amount they are receiving currently.
