PEORIA, Ill. – It’s all but a done deal now.
The Peoria Federation of Teachers says on social media teachers have overwhelmingly approved the contract worked out on Thursday with the Peoria Public Schools, months after the last contract expired, and after a third meeting with a federal mediator.
The union says out of 537 voters, 99 percent voted Sunday at Richwoods High School to approve the three-year collective bargaining agreement. That would put the total at roughly 531 “yes” votes.
Union leaders want the public to keep the lawn signs in place until after the District 150 board votes on the deal. It likely will happen at a meeting Monday, September 26, but a special meeting could be called before then. Details of the deal likely will be announced after that vote.
