PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Wednesday reported two new area deaths related to COVID-19 in the tri-county area, both residents of Tazewell County.
A female in her 80s died from the virus, as well as a male in his 60s.
Overall, 119 new cases were reported throughout Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
53 new cases were reported in Peoria County, 50 were reported in Tazewell and 16 new cases were reported in Woodford.
Two more patients were in hospital beds Wednesday compared to Tuesday in the area. Overall, 68 people are hospitalized with the virus, with 17 of those in the intensive-care unit.
Region 2 of Illinois continues to see a steady positivity rate, holding at 5.6%. Meanwhile, patients hospitalized and in the ICU have both decreased since Tuesday.
