PEORIA, Ill. — Want a free ride? Just show your library card.
CityLink on Thursday, September 1, is kicking off a partnership with area libraries, offering free fares through September 30.
As long as you show your CityLink driver a library card from Peoria, Peoria Heights, the Fondulac District Library or the Pekin Public Library, you’ll ride for free.
General Manager Doug Roelfs tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, CityLink serves around 1.5 million riders a year, and ridership is increasing again.
“It’s getting back up, yeah, after COVID we kind of took a dip. But, it’s steadily going back up…we’ve got about 7,000 riders a day,” Rolfs says.
The September Fine Free/Fare Free campaign is going on in conjunction with Library Card Sign Up Month.
Peoria Public Library and Fondulac District Library have been fine free for two years, while Pekin’s Public Library will be fine free for the month of September. Peoria Heights Public Library has been fine free since 2016.
