CHICAGO — Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike Friday announced all high school sports are allowed to compete in intraconference play in Phase 4 of Restore Illinois.
As of Friday, Regions 3, 5, and 6 are in Phase 4.
Region 2, which encompasses the tri-county of Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford, is just one step away from being in that phase.
The rolling seven-day positivity rate for a region must be at or below 6.5% for three consecutive days before moving to Phase 4, while Region 2 Friday sits at 6.7%.
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) tweeted Friday that more guidelines will be posted later in the day to adjust to the latest guidance from IDPH.
