PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices, while still pretty high, are continuing to make moves down in the Peoria area.
GasBuddy.com says its survey of 148 stations in Peoria averaged a gallon of unleaded at $3.91, while AAA says the average price in the Peoria-Pekin metro area is a little more than $3.94.
GasBuddy is cautioning again this week that somewhat rebounding oil prices may result in prices start to creep back up again in this area.
“While some areas saw gas prices rise slightly last week, the national average saw yet another weekly decline, extending the streak to ten straight weeks,” said Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis, in a news release. “The pace of declines is certainly slowing down as oil prices have bounced up slightly, but the West Coast and Northeastern U.S. are areas that still may see gas prices decline, while the South and Midwest see the drop fade and potentially slight increases.”
While still high in this area, GasBuddy also says the national average price for a gallon of diesel is below $5 a gallon for the first time since March.
