MORTON, Ill. — Morton School District 709 announced eight students have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and 114 are in quarantine, as of Friday, Jan. 15.
Three staff members had coronavirus, and 16 were in isolation.
The number of students with coronavirus decreased by nine from the previous week, however quarantined students increased by 37.
The number of staff with COVID-19 remained the same from the previous week, and eight additional teachers were isolating.
On Friday, Jan. 15, the region moved into Tier 2 mitigations, which allows for “low risk” sports, such as cheerleading and swimming, to begin practicing.
There are 150 students learning remotely across the district, the lowest number during the entire school year.
Tier 1B vaccinations begin on Monday, Jan. 18. Tier 1B includes educators.
