DUNLAP, Ill. – A Peoria man reportedly turned himself in to Peoria County Sheriffs Department officials after a video allegedly showed him assaulting an animal.
Sheriff Chris Watkins says on social media Nicholas Prince, 39, was arrested Wednesday evening on a charge of Animal Cruelty and was put in jail.
Watkins says his office was made aware Monday of what he called a “disturbing” video showing a man beating a dog inside a residence later determined to be on Woodcrest Drive in Dunlap on July 5th.
Watkins says the dog in question is at Peoria County Animal Protective services and “is doing great.”
“I am proud to say due to the hard work of our deputies and detectives, this individual is in jail,” said Watkins, in a release. “In this county, if you abuse an animal, you are absolutely going to jail.”
Prince was already arrested once in the last month, and jail records indicate he’s been arrested a total of nine times in Peoria County since 2008.
