PRINCEVILLE, Ill. – No one was hurt after a lightning strike caused a fire Tuesday morning at a Princeville home.
Akron-Princeville Fire Chief Randy Haley says the call was reported around 9:00 a.m. at Route 91 and Streitmatter Road.
Haley tells 25 News the fire was contained to the home’s attic and was put out quickly.
No one was hurt, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion.
People and pets inside the home were able to escape safely.

PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office said Rt. 91 at Streitmatter Road was shut down Tuesday morning due to a house fire.
The house was struck by lightning and caught fire.
Everyone got out of the home uninjured.
Numerous fire departments responded to the scene.
