PEORIA, Ill. — The second winter storm this week will hit the Peoria area on New Year’s Day, according to news partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins.
“Icy conditions will overspread the area Friday morning about day break then continue into early afternoon,” said Collins.
A tenth to a quarter inch of ice is possible, which will create hazardous travel and scattered power outages, he said.
The freezing rain becomes a wintry mix Friday afternoon before changing to a light snow Friday night.
