PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Fire crews were called just after 6:30 p.m. Monday to an apartment complex at 1615 N. Great Oak Road on reports of smoke coming from one of the units.
The first engine company on-scene found smoke showing from an open door.
Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly, though two separate fires were found.
One fire was in a kitchen area and another in a bedroom.
Damage to the apartment’s interior doors and walls appeared to be from vandalism.
A search of the apartment found no one inside.
A Fire Investigator determined the cause of the fire was arson.
No firefighters injuries were reported.
