SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — After 7,910 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases were announced by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday, there have now been more than 800,000 cases in Illinois.
IDPH also announced 145 additional deaths Tuesday due to the virus.
Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 95,825 specimens.
As of Monday night, 5,199 people in Illinois were in the hospital with the virus. Of those, 1,071 were in the ICU and 626 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate dropped below 10% and now sits at 9.9%.
