PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighters used the jaws of life to help rescue a woman from a car involved in a crash Sunday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Rick Morgan said the accident occurred at the intersection of Knoxville and Archer at approximately 10:22 p.m.
Firefighters were notified while en route that one of the drivers was unconscious. The unidentified woman later regained consciousness, and complained of loss of sensation in her lower extremities.
Due to major intrusion of the driver’s passenger side door, crews used hydraulic spreaders to remove the door, and get the woman out of the car.
The woman and the other driver were both taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Their conditions were unavailable.
The crash remains under investigation.
