PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria International Airport is accepting donations for its 43 TSA officers affected by the partial government shutdown.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the airport said it’s accepting gas or grocery cards that are up to $20 each for the officers.
Wednesday morning, PIA’s Cheryl Sloan explained the limitations to WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”.
“There were a lot of stipulations put on what we can and cannot accept. They cannot take cash, they cannot take Visa gift cards, because it’s like cash,” Sloan said.
The cards can be dropped off in the Airport Administration Office, at ticket counters outside of business hours, or to the TSA agents as long as there are no long lines.
PIA is currently not seeing long wait times that other national airports are seeing. But it’s advising people to arrive at least two hours before their flights.
